actually a third cousin is perfectly alright to have a child with, they only share a great-great-grandparent and the chance is on par with a normal childbirth for abnormalities. 3rd cousins is bad? I've only ever met one of my second cousins. Never even heard of my 3rd cousins. Thats a pretty distant relationship, essentially strangers.
I'm essentially fine with fucking cousins. Until we're both in the room with the same person we call grandma. Then it's weird. But as long as you avoid that situation or at least don't procreate, then whatever.

You can marry first cousins in 24 out of 50 states. Third cousins isn't really bad at all. Besides the chance of having birth defects in kids between first cousins is only like one percent higher than between people with no blood relation whatsoever. People are just narrowminded.
