A "series" of like 2; I said it was a verb. To be is the auxiliary verb which means her coinage is the main verb which is a... Verb. Just saying. Misapprehension of the gerund is easy enough as it takes the same form as a noun,adjective, verb. Totes not an adverb though.
That's not a gerund noun. The "ing" ending can be that, a present verb, or a present participle depending on it's grammatical function. This is just a verb, not a gerund noun or a participle adjective.
